First inaugurated in 1975, the twice-annual dojinshi fair focusing on non-commercial, self-published manga, anime, and video games has grown to become the largest fan convention in the world, with over half a million attending every fair. In addition to browsing the independent art on display and exhibits by big anime companies, there is also dedicated cosplay areas. Admissions is free to the comic market which is held at Tokyo Big Sight from 10 .m. to 4 p.m. daily.
