Fancy staying like an Edo-period lord in one of Japan’s historic castles?

If you are willing to shell out over EUR 8,307 per night, you can. Starting next month, for the first time in its 700-year-old history, travellers will be able to enjoy an overnight stay in the Ozu Castle in Ehime Prefecture, complete with a guided tour of the town and castle, lavish re-enactment performances, traditional performances, and evening banquets. Hirado Castle in Nagasaki Prefecture is expected to follow suit this summer.
